Elsewhere
Everything on this map is walked.
There is no fast travel, no boost to buy and no way to skip a kilometre. The only thing that moves your wanderer is your own feet, on ordinary days, in the gaps of an ordinary life.
The road
3,500 kilometres. Eleven regions. An ending.
From Fenwarden's Gate to Cael-on-the-Mountain. Most walkers take a year. Some take two. The road does not mind, and it does not reset at midnight.
How it counts
Your steps, converted honestly.
1,300 steps make one kilometre. A single day converts at most 40 kilometres, so a long walk counts and a car journey mostly does not.
Rucksack never uses location, and it has no way to reach the internet. It reads a step count and nothing else.
One last thing
What shall we call you?
It goes on the journal pages and nowhere else. Nobody else ever sees it.
Tonight
Fenwarden's GateCael
At the hearth
The journal
Forged by walking
Gear is forged by consecutive days on the road. Two rest days a week are banked for you, and nothing forged is ever taken back.
Given on the road
The step ledger
Everything the app has counted, and where it came from. If a number here looks wrong, it is the number the app used.
Today's step count
Write down the total your phone or watch shows for today. Saving replaces today's number rather than adding to it.
The last thirty days
Settings
One warm pulse when you reach a waypoint or forge a piece of gear. Nothing else buzzes.
Take it with you
The export is the whole record: every day, every kilometre, every camp. It is yours.
Start again
This erases the journey, the journal and the ledger from this phone. There is no copy anywhere else, so there is nothing to recover it from.
About
Rucksack reads one number from this phone: the step counter built into it. It does not request the internet permission, so it cannot upload anything, and it never asks for location. The weather at your camp is Elsewhere's own weather, worked out from the date and the region you are standing in.
Free, finished, and not a subscription. There is nothing to buy inside it.
